Day 111: Last day at Conductive Education

This morning while Mama was at Graduation, Dada took Madison to her Conductive Education class at March of Dimes. This was Madison’s last day of the program for a while. She will be starting up again near the end of July doing semi-private classes. This block of sessions was funded by RBC. Thank you RBC! We are so grateful to have been able to participate in the classes and see the awsome growth Madi has made in a few short weeks. She enjoyed watching bubbles and popping them during the class and they gave her a collage of pictures from all the Weeks of the therapy at the end to take home as a keep sake. James said he was very impressed and happy with the class (today was his first time seeing it) and he is now inspired to attempt building a few of the supports Madi uses in the class. We can’t wait to start up again in July!

Day 110: Back at it

Madison is still a bit under the weather, but is doing much better then yesterday. She was back at daycare today and lasted the whole day. When I picked her up she was in her walker following her friend Abby around. Abby has become a popular name in our house. Madison loves working on her sitting while visiting with her toy puppy. She loves dancing with puppy.

Madison had a full cup of booster juice as well. Her favourite is Very Berry. She had a good boost of energy after she finished the whole thing. Looks like her appetite is slowly coming back.

Day 109: Home Sick Today

Madison stayed home today with Grandma to let her eyes have a rest. It appears she likes to rub her nose and then rub her eyes that caused a bit of an infection. James took her to the doctors and confirmed it’s not contagious and no drugs necessary. Her eyes are already looking better though which is good. We just have to try and keep her nose and eyes clean and it will go away. Easier said then done. Anyone have tricks on keeping a 21 month olds hands out of her nose and eyes?

Day 108: Standing!

While Mommy was doing a workout at Kick it Up for Kidney Cancer this morning, Madison was doing a workout of her own with Nana and Grampa. She practiced standing without holding on to anything. She stood on a chair and used the back of it to help her balance. She showed me when I picked her up and I was so proud of her, and by the look on her face she was proud of herself too.

Day 107: Family Time

Through all the craziness and busy schedules, we were able to have some down time and do normal things today. Playing on the lawn, grocery shopping, reading books, bbq and bed. It was nice to have a productive day and get things done, but also enjoy each other.  We also gave Madi a break today. No AFO’S and no physio or stretching. She has many bruises all over her shins from trying to move more and pull herself up on things, but due to where her AFO’S end and her shins start…she has lots of bruising and pressure marks on the skin.

One of Madi’s new words…she calls banana ‘ s “nanana”

Day 106: Celebrations

Madison had a great day at daycare. She continues to move forward with new milestones and celebrations. Today for the first time at daycare she didn’t sleep in her crib. She slept in a cot on the floor in the toddler room with all the other toddlers for nap time. She is such a big girl the time is going by so quickly.

Madison had a Daddy Daughter night while Mommy was out celebrating at a bridal shower for Domenica. It was such a beautiful shower and we are so happy for the upcoming marriage of Domenica and Andrew.

Day 105: Good News vs. Bad News

Bad News: Madi’s tightness is pretty bad right now. We have been massaging, using oils and having warm baths. She is having a hard time sleeping. She is growing which is a big reason for the tightness. Hopefully this wave will be over soon and she can sleep more peacefully. In the meantime…lots of cuddles from Dada.

Good News: Madi’s mind is about to be blown…

Yes that’s right! We are going to entertain her obsession by taking her to see Bubble Guppies the live show!!!  For those interested, tickets go on sale next week for shows in November and December.

Day 104: Working hard Wednesdays

Madison had another busy but eventful Wednesday of therapy. She was at March of Dimes this morning for Conductive ed, spent her afternoon with Janine and Lou out for a long walk and had a swim class with Ryan tonight. All of her conductive ed classes and physio are booked for the summer. We have gym class booked as well. We are going to book some swim lessons and them we are set for our summer of toddler boot camp!

Day 103: Last physio for a while

This afternoon Madison had her last physio session for a while. She will start up again at Grandview in July.

One of the strength building exercises she did was sitting on a bench, reaching behind her, picking up a toy and then sitting up right. This works on her tummy strength, hand eye coordination, and using her hands to balance and push herself up.

Madison also began working on pulling herself off the ground to standing in her walker. This skill is going to be extremly important in developing independence with moving around in her walker to play.

For the next month until we are back at Grandview we will continue working on side step cruising using the wall, pulling herself up in her walker and going from crouching to standing.

A big shout out to James for attempting to do Madi’s hair today. I think it turned out great!

I’ll be posting a video on my Facebook of Madi walking in a walker going to her toys.
